Mission Statement

The DC Public Library, through its Adaptive Services Division, helps the deaf community, visually impaired, older adults, veterans and injured service people better use the library.

Description

We need volunteers to help people with disabilities learn to use the library, through accessing computers, audio books and other technologies. These are people who are blind or have low vision, or have physical disabilities including cognitive impairment that prevent them from getting access to the library's programs and services, including the internet. Volunteers can have computer skills but most importantly patience and sensitivity.
