Description

The GW Charity Auction is a tradition that began at the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 1999. In an effort to make a meaningful contribution to their community, students from all programs in the SMHS and SPHHS, as well as faculty, come together to raise money for a cause that they believe in.

Since the student-run Health, Education, and Active Living Clinic (or H.E.A.L.ing Clinic) opened in 2007, the annual Charity Auction has been raising funds to support the Clinic’s operational expenses. The Charity Auction is the primary vehicle for the clinic’s fundraising efforts. In 2009, the Auction generated $18,000. This year, our goal is to bring in even more in response to the clinic’s recent expansion to two clinic locations. We are very excited to support the clinic’s efforts to provide services to even more patients in need of quality health care.

Both the H.E.A.L.ing Clinic itself and the Charity Auction fundraiser are 100% student-run initiatives.

Where Does the Money Go?
100% of proceeds from the Auction go directly to the supporting the operational expenses of the H.E.A.L.ing Clinic, including medical and lab supplies, program supplies, and facility costs. All medical, physician assistant, and public health students volunteer their time as patient educators, lab technicians, physical examiners, researchers, coordinators, and first-line providers. Volunteer attending physicians oversee and provide clinical services to help ensure quality and thorough patient care.
