Mission Statement
The HERS Foundation is an independent non-profit international women's health education organization dedicated to providing information about alternatives to hysterectomy and the aftereffects of the surgery. Since it was established in 1982, HERS has counseled over 900,000 women, and provided information to millions.
One out of two women undergo hysterectomy by the age of 70. Only 2% of hysterectomies are life saving. Women who have information about female anatomy and the important life long functions of their females organs invariably choose conservative management of symptoms or conditions for which hysterectomy is recommended.
The HERS Foundation counsels girls and women of all ages, some as young as 15 years old who have undergone hysterectomy. Educating girls and women is imperative to stem the trend of the unwarranted hysterectomies.
