Mission Statement

Latin Women in Action's mission is to empower the Hispanic community in the State of New York but more specifically the borough of Queens. It works with this population to provided knowledge and empowement of good citizenship and values of the USA.

Description

Latin Women in Action, Inc. also known as (LWA) is a small non-profit organization that was established in 1990 to assist Hispanics and other minorities in the borough of Queens. The organization has been providing mainly direct services in the areas of immigration, which include completion of the naturalization process and education. It also provides educational services to parents on parenting skills, domestic violence counseling, anger management, and batterers education. It assists parents who have been accused of child abuse. We work with parents whose children are in foster care, in order to help them to unite them. LWA also works to provide workshops that can empower families in the many different health, financial and educational aspects.

LWA has held an annual event called BACK TO SCHOOL FESTIVAL which is held every August. The event has been held for the last 10 years and it has been very successful. Between 7-10K participants attend every year. It is LWA's featured event. Lastly, LWA offers a Child Day Care course for individuals interested in acquiring a Child Day Care license.
