Mission Statement

The Stockton San-Joaquin County Library Adult Literacy Program serves English speaking adults who read below a 6th grade level by providing one-to-one basic skills tutoring in reading, writing and life skills. The program : recruits , trains and provides support to volunteer tutors ; recruits and assesses adult learners and matches them individually with volunteer tutors.

Description

The Adult Literacy Program is a program of the Stockton San- Joaquin County Public Library. It is a basic literacy program for English speaking adults . We do not provide ESOL tutoring but refer ESOL students to other comunity programs. We train volunteer tutors and match them individually with the adult students.
