Mission Statement

The AMC promotes the protection, enjoyment, and wise use of the mountains, rivers and trails of the Norhteast. The AMC pormotes natural resource conservation while encouraging responsible recreation, based on the philosophythat successful, long-term conservation depends upon first-hand enjoyment of the natural environment.

Description

The Appalachian Mountain Club is made up of more than 86,000 memebers. It was founded in 1876 and is the oldest conservation and recreation organization in the United States. A nonprofit mebership organization, theAMC has 12 chapters stretching from Maine to Washington D.C.
