Mission Statement

In response to God's love in Jesus Christ, Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries will demonstrate God's command to love the neighbor through acts of service. With "many hands and one heart," Diakon staff members each year touch the lives of more than 70,000 children, families, and older adults. We are proud to continue a nearly 140-year tradition of hospitality and care for people of all faiths.

Description

Volunteers provide services for clients who are 60 years of age and older to help them maintain an independent lifestyle in their homes. Services are interfaith and at no cost to the client. Volunteers are given an orientation, have liability insurance and are offered mileage reimbursement and appreciation events. Our volunteers serve people in their local community.
