Mission Statement

Our mission is to: 1. Provide care, shelter, and medical attention for stray, abandoned, and unwanted animals. 2. Place homeless animals in good, loving, responsible homes through adoption events. 3. Encourage and educate the public to spay their pets through a reduced-cost neutering program to prevent pet-overpopulation and the resulting destruction of pets. 4. Oppose and report cruelty to animals. 5. To provide kindness to animals education in local schools.

Description

LAA is a no-kill shelter and a member of the American Humane Association. We were founded in 1974 and are a chartered, non-profit humane organization. Our organization is run by volunteers and is funded entirely by donations and fund-raisers. Our shelter provides a safe haven for dogs and cats until a good home can be found for them. We do not discriminate any animal due to size, age, color, breed, or behavior problems, unless the animal is too aggressive for our volunteers to handle and poses a threat to other animals/volunteers. Intakes are dependant on availability of space at the shelter.
