Mission Statement

4-H empowers youth to reach their full potential, working and learning in partnership with caring adults.

Description

4-H is an informal education that is a valued addition to a young person's learning process. 4-H programs are cooperatively developed in partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture, University of Vermont Extension and other land-grant colleges across the country, and local communities. 4-H creates opportunities that promote positive youth development.

National 4- H Headquarters relies upon the Land Grant University Extension System across the country to build strong partnerships with Army, Air Force, Navy, National Guard and Reserve entities in order to provide technical assistance and training for military staff and to establish 4-H Clubs for Military youth living on and off installation. In addition, 4-H seeks to serve those children whose parents are serving in the National Guard and Reserve and live in communities with little or no military presence. 4-H pro-vides predictable programming and a safe and nurturing environment for military kids.
