Mission Statement

MISSION: The YWCA of Madison is a non-profit organization founded in 1908 as a member of the national YWCA. We are an autonomous women's movement committed to self-determined social change for women of all racial, ethnic and economic groups. We strive to provide leadership in our community, nation and world in the struggle for peace, justice and dignity for all people. We are committed to providing safe, affordable housing for low- income women, emergency shelter for homeless women and families, and education and training to ensure economic security for women. Our One Imperative: The YWCA, locally and nationally, has adopted the One Imperative of eliminating racism wherever it exists.

Description

The YWCA of Madison provides permanent housing to low-income single women, low-income single motheres with one preschool child, and emergency shelter to homeless families with children. We also provide employment and training programs to women and minority men in the community.
