The mission of the Columbus Historical Society is to enrich the Central Ohio community through preserving and protecting its history, educating both residents and visitors, and leading diverse collaborative initiatives

Description

The Columbus Historical Society puts on several porgrams throughout the year on different topics related to the history of Columbus. We have also published a children's book that has been used in local school systems for teaching Columbus history.

Additionally, we maintain a gallery in the Jefferson Center showcasing different collection of artifacts, papers, artwork related to Columbus.

Our goals as an organization are -

  • Build awareness of Columbus and Central Ohio history
  • Create an expanded exhibit space
  • Create an accessible archive to protect artifacts
  • Improve access to Central Ohio history via publications, the internet and site visits
