Mission Statement

Silver Service, Inc. is committed to providing quality programs of social and educational content to Hartford's disadvantaged older adult population. Through the coordination of volunteers, we will provide our constituents continuity to the community, it's members, and the shared life experiences of both. It is our intent to accentuate the presence of viable seniors, thereby providing them an opportunity to give as well as receive, resulting in improved quality of life.

Description

Our primary objective is to bring programs, such as might be found in traditional senior centers, to Hartford's elderly population in their low-income senior housing. These people, through reason of poor health, financial difficulties or lack of transportation are often unable to take advantage of traditional senior centers. We are also endeavoring to reach out further into the senior community through churches, senior centers and other organizations, bringing health education and training, multi-cultural festivals, music appreciation, reminiscence program, day trips, craft workshops, etc.

I am looking for a place to volunteer and gain exposure into the field of Human Services. I have not volunteered anywhere as of yet, therefore I remain neutral in my recommendations at this time.
