Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
To develop and deliver a quality interactive and innovative developmental basketball training program as a tool to guide, educate and support youth. Offering youth ages 7-18 positive resources, innovative ideas and preventive methods to implement change in the inner city of Paterson and neighboring communities. Build character through participation, faith, focus and triumph to become positive, productive and successful leaders in society.
Today's youth face many innumerable negative choices and challenges, regardless of gender, race, background or economical status. At Harvest Vision Youth Basketball we have chosen to invest in our youth by offering an alternative positive outlet through our innovative sports programs.
Established in 2002 Harvest Vision has served youth in the Paterson area through a variety of community events, harvesting our very first "Teen Harvest Gospel Cafe'" Harvest Vision has later become the Harvest Vision Youth Basketball, which continues to serve youth in different facets. Using sports as a tool to guide, educate and mentor our youth to be positive and productive role models in their homes, classrooms and communities.
Our program is a not for profit organization designed for youth 7 through 18 years old. Our volunteer staff and coaches are dedicated to the cause of our youth. We use innovative teaching strategies and experiences to enable the process of thought, precision, decision and execution on and off the courts. At Harvest Vision Youth Basketball, "It's More Than Just A Game....It's A Tool To Life!"
IT'S MORE THAN JUST A GAME
At HVYB we take our youth beyond the city walls. Through sponsorship and fund raising our youth are rewarded the opportunity to explore and experience the beauty and history of other states and cities. Bonding friendships are developed during team outings, group activities and adventurous fun-filled exploratory field trips.
COMBINING SPORTS AND EDUCATION
Believing sports and education formulate success in the venues of life, HVYB has chosen to network with various organization which offers opportunities to enhance our youth with educational enrichment programs and life skills seminars.
Using basketball and related activities as a tool, we focus on building characteristics like self-esteem, leadership, commitment and communication, which are essentials in the development of our youth.
Through community services, our participants are taught the significant roles they have in the community, the importance of building and serving their communities. Our participants are required to participate in a series of community service projects to serve the needs of others.
THE ALTERNATIVE TEAM
Youth employ the opportunity to be a part of something, whether it's a team, gang or club. There is always the need to "fit in" and belong! Youth have different reasons why they want to be a part of "The Team", for many it builds self esteem, skills and athleticism and for others, it's affords an opportunity to keep active and involved. At HVYB we are a conduit to change; failing grades, lack of skills, talent, nor confidence will not disqualify a willing heart from being a part of the "Team".
At HVYB everyone makes the TEAM!
