Description

On the National Register of Historic Places, the Paramount Theatre Centre and Ballroom is an atmospheric theater built by John Eberson in 1929. We are one of twelve atmospheric theaters left in the United States. We have a 1458 seat movie theater and a 6,000 sq. ft. ballroom (with original dance floor) where we host weddings, receptions, and everything from symphony and ballet to movies and comedy and concerts. We are owned by a foundation and 20 years ago this theater was restored with the help of factories and executives that no longer exist. We are trying to keep our doors open with minimal expenses, which is where our volunteers play a very important part. We also own a 992 pipe Grande Page Theatre Organ, which still plays. The Paramount is one of three places in the country to still own its original theater organ. We also give tours and host fund raising events for other non-profits. Our facility is located in the center of a downtown that is on its way back from the economic devastation created by the recent closing of the many factories that once supported us. We want to continue bringing our community together by offering entertainment and events that remind people of what a great place this is. Photos of our theater on our web site do not do it justice, but they come close.
