Whether they’re simply being present with a patient or helping behind the scenes, volunteers help create trusting bonds and meaningful memories for hospice patients and their loved ones. I volunteered as a companion for Compassionate Care Hospice Family/Clients during the summer of 2013. I was able to sit, talk and share stories with families about their loved ones. I offered my help to do some light housecleaning as well; The most rewarding part of this experience was seeing a smile on their faces each time I was able to visit;
