The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to fulfill a promise to her dying sister that somehow she would make it better for other women. Since then, the Komen Foundation has grown into a vast network of volunteers in more that 98 communities and 4 International countries. Working through local Affiliates and Race for the Cure events, affiliates raise fund and awareness, and provide innovative outreach, screening and treatment programs that meet the needs fo their community
