BOARD MEMBER RECRUITMENT - INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD MEMBER RECRUITMENT - INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT A Child For All, Inc., (ACFA) provides a safe and loving environment for vulnerable children in Mali, West Africa. Children who are living on the streets because they do not have parents who can take care of them are welcomed into a home and receive the nourishment, education, health care and attention necessary to thrive. Founded in 2008, ACFA is run by a small and dedicated working board that gathers monthly. Our board members are active advocates and ambassadors for the organization, eager to make a difference in the lives of Malian children. We especially welcome candidates with personal or professional experience in West or sub-Saharan Africa, including Returned Peace Corps Volunteers and Diaspora Africans living in the U.S. ACFA’s operations has expanded and ACFA operates a home in the capital of Bamako and the Zorokoro Children’s Complex on 5 acres of land in the village of Zorokoro. The Zorokoro Children’s Complex includes a home for ACFA’s children and a school which has started with kindergarten and first grade for children ages 3-6 years old. A library and computer lab is opening soon at the Complex. AREAS OF EXPERTISE We are currently recruiting a Board member with expertise in the following area: International Development We are looking for someone with a background in international development including experience and understanding of USAID and other government grants. A strong understanding of the philanthropic community including corporate partnerships and nonprofit fundraising is helpful. INDIVIDUAL BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES A small non profit organization, ACFA has a working board: you have to be able to roll up your sleeves and go to work for the children we support. Board members are expected to attend monthly virtual board meetings and devote at least 2 hours a week to ACFA. Board members are expected to come to meetings prepared to ask questions, make recommendations and decisions Board members are expected to actively participate/run ACFA’s committees. Bound by their fidicuary duties, board members play a major role in securing the financial resources necessary for ACFA to achieve its mission. This is done by any means, from leveraging personal relationships and connections to making personal financial contributions every year of a minimum of $2,000, although financial contributions raised counts towards the total. Board members are expected to responsibly represent ACFA to their respective communities and to advocate for ACFA’s mission and programs as appropriate. Mission A Child for All ("ACFA") is a U.S. non-profit organization which provides vulnerable children in Mali with a safe and loving environment, which fosters their health, learning, happiness and success. ACFA is growing and now has two locations in Mali where children previously living on the streets have a roof over their heads, are in school and are thriving. Position We are seeking an Executive Director to join our team and guide our organization forward by overseeing all operational, financial, and technical aspects of the organization. The ideal candidate is an experienced retired/volunteer Executive Director (ED) with non-profit experience. The ED will assist in overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization as well as, provide assistance with marketing, and community outreach. The retired and/or volunteer Non-profit ED will help to provide his/her expertise, direction and guidance to the organization in developing policies, organizational structure, fundraising opportunities, and a donor base. Desired skill set: * Five or more years senior nonprofit management experience. * High level strategic thinking and planning. * A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results. * Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community. * Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies and volunteers. * Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting. * Strong written and oral communication skills. * Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy. * French-speaking is highly desired. * Experience in Western Africa a plus. Responsibilities include: * Planning, organization, and directing the organization’s operations and programs * Developing and implementing consistent inventory and cost accounting policies, procedures, and operational reporting/metrics * Overseeing and reporting on the organization’s results for the board * Prepares accurate financial reports for the board of directors, assisting with volunteer recruitment activities, and leading annual budget reviews. * Retain a diverse, highly qualified staff and volunteers by providing career coaching, growth, and personal development for workers * Work with the CEO as well as staff in Mali * Ensure that services and funding relationships are robust enough to meet or exceed strategic goals and objectives * Leads all fundraising initiatives, providing leadership and mentorship to volunteers, and acting as a liaison between staff and the board of directors. * Excellent leadership skills to motivate and develop operational staff Requirements and skills * Proven work experience as a Non-Profit Executive Director or similar role * Experience running fundraising initiatives * Knowledge of volunteer recruitment and how to get individuals involved for the organization’s success * Strong knowledge of financials and how to build financial forecasting documents for the board of directors * Relevant training and/or certifications as a Non-Profit Executive Director Cover letter and CV to lisa@achildforall.org

VOLUNTEER TRANSLATOR NEEDED A Child for All ("ACFA") is a U.S. non-profit organization with current operations in the city of Bamako in Mali, West Africa. ACFA provides a safe and loving environment for vulnerable children who are living on the streets or who are orphaned. These children are welcomed into the home that our founder grew up in and they receive the nourishment, education, health care and attention necessary to thrive Having been a vulnerable child in Mali herself, ACFA’s founder possess a unique understanding of how to alleviate the dislocation and hopelessness that these children experience and ACFA provides the foundation for these children to grow and become empowered to achieve the futures they deserve. Given the growing number of vulnerable children in the area, ACFA decided to increase its capacity by building a new children's complex to serve the surrounding communities and support up to 100 more children. The Zorokoro Children's Complex now has a dormitory for 25 young children and we started kindergarten and first grade classes at our school which also welcomes children from the surrounding villages. The Complex will also include a healthcare complex and a sports complex. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Translation Services Needed As French is spoken in Mali, we have a need from time to time for translations from French to English and English to French. For example, some of the grants we apply for have to be in French. Ideally, we would like to also have a French version of our website www.achildforall.org. We are looking for Translators to help us with these projects Translator responsibilities include reading and thoroughly understanding the context of given material, using specialized dictionaries and translation tools and proofreading finished piece of work. To be successful in this role, you should have a keen eye for detail and be fluent in French.
