Caring for Kids is committed to making a difference in the lives of our county’s children and families. Through community education and partnership, parenting classes, and home visitation, Caring for Kids seeks to engage the community and empower parents to build healthy, loving and productive families.

Description

Caring for Kids utilizes the Parents as Teachers (PAT) home visitation program as its main service activity. The PAT program is universally applicable to families of all shapes and sizes. Its flexible service is open to all pregnant, new, and/second time moms and dads. PAT services include

  • In-Home Parenting Education Services
  • Children’s Health and Developmental Screenings
  • Monthly Family Time Dinners
  • Responsive Community Resource Linkage

Parents as Teachers (PAT) program is a research based curriculum driven-by the assumption that parents are their children’s first and most influential teachers. The PAT program encourages strong parent/child bonding and emphasizes that the early years of a child’s development creates the foundation to future success in school and life.
