Mission Statement

The mission of the Friends of SFILSP is to empower current and former foster youth to succeed in living independently after they emancipate from the foster care system. Our primary purpose is to provide scholarships for educational and vocational training and other grants for safe and stable housing as well as basic living needs.

Description

Friends of the San Francisco Independent Living Skills Program (Friends of ILSP) is a nonprofit organization, working in partnership with the San Francisco Independent Living Skills Program to make sure that young people leaving the foster care system have the support they need to succeed in living independently.

Friends of ILSP helps fill the gaps in funding for emancipating foster youth by providing educational scholarships, housing and basic needs grants, college field trips and other assistance to youth (ages 16-24) who are pursuing self-sufficiency.
