Mission Statement

MASD's mission for the next biennium is to increase technology literacy and content knowledge by creating a 21st century learning environment.

Integrating technology with core curriculum (Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, etc..), MASD strives to remove the digial access barrier for attending students.

MASD has the following goals:

  • Increase access to technology
  • Increase skills of teachers and students using technology
  • Increase content knowledge in core content areas through the use of technology
  • Improve student's ability to gain 21st century skills necessary for life after secondary school

Description

Mt. Angel School District (MASD) is a diverse district located in the heart of the Willamette Valley in rural Marion County, Oregon. MASD serves an estimated population of 4,000, who live in Mt. Angel and the surrounding area. 756 students attend MASD's three schools: St. Mary's Elementary, Mt. Angel Middle, and John F. Kennedy High. The district has the only schools in Mt. Angel and employs 98 staff, making it the second largest employer in the community and the center for community activities.

Community and school activities in a digital world are difficult for MASD students due to a lack of access and resources. The povery level of MASD students is at 17.7% and a 2009 survey of students in grades 5-8 indicates over 38% of MASD Students do not have access to technology outside of school.
