Hopes for Higher Education is a National Award Winning grassroots organization dedicated to providing superior advocacy to improve the everyday life and overall outcomes for vulnerable youth. The organization is managed and operated 100% by volunteers.

Description

Increasing community awareness of the challenges faced by youth aging out of foster care seeking a higher education. Develop a community network to provide youth appropriate linkage to resources; Create a personal network for youth that includes a long lasting connection to a caring adult; Engaging youth in understanding how to self advocate for their needs; Encourage best practice methods by youth serving organizations; Positively impact the resiliency of vulnerable youth to break the cycle of out of home care.

I really enjoyed my time working with this organization as a volunteer intern. Dr. Harris-Sims is highly motivated to create opportunities for at risk youth and youth in foster care. Hands down a life changing experience.
