Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Description
Special Olympics Arkansas provides Olympic type sports training and competition opportunities to it's athletes completely free of charge to them or their families. We offer training in sports such as Floor Hockey, Bowling, Aquatics, Track & Field Events, powerlifting, golf and many more. Special Olympics Arkansas' athletes are training or competing all year long and culminate their training with three major events during each year: State Winter Games which take place in late January of each year, Area Games which take place the 2nd Saturday of each April in Fayetteville, AR, and our State Summer Games which take place in late May of each year in Searcy, AR. Volunteer opportunities are plentiful throughout the year at these events and others during the year.
