The YWCA of Lancaster is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

Description

The YWCA of Lancaster has six programs including Childcare, Empowerment Center, Racial Justice Initiatives, Residence Program, Sexual Assault Prevention & Counseling Center (SAPCC) and Adult Services.

Our Childcare centers provide developmentally appropriate care for children from age six weeks to twelve years in a safe and stimulating environment.

The Empowerment Center provides services to youth and the community for the prevention of sexual violence, teen pregnancy, school dropout, gender bias and racism.

The Racial Justice program provides an Anti-bias Curriculum for elementary school children, a Day of Commitment, Study Circles and the annual Racial Justice Institute with national trainers to dismantle racism and bring about positive change in our community.

The Residence Program provides safe, affordable housing for low and moderate income women and their children for up to two years during transitional periods in their lives.

SAPCC offers supportive counseling to sexual assault/abuse victims and accompanies them through medical, police, child advocacy and court proceedings.

Adult Services encompass a variety of basic living skills and personal development opportunities including parenting classes, support groups, advocacy and educational forums on public policy, and volunteer leadership development.
