Description
United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) is a national charity dedicated to serving and empowering individuals with cerebral palsy as well as other intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Founded in 1949, UCP has a rich history of advocating for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of individuals with disabilities, ensuring they have equal access to opportunities that enhance their quality of life.
UCP operates as a vital network of affiliated organizations across the United States and Canada, providing a diverse array of services and resources tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals with disabilities and their families. These services include early intervention programs, physical and occupational therapy, assistive technology support, advocacy initiatives, and employment and vocational training. UCP is committed to fostering independence, improving mobility, and enabling full participation in society for those it serves.
As a thought leader in the disability space, UCP is steadfast in its efforts to create a more inclusive world where barriers are removed and individuals with disabilities can thrive. The organization is actively involved in public policy and advocacy, working at the local, state, and federal levels to influence legislation that promotes accessibility, inclusion, and equity. UCP also partners with other organizations, medical institutions, researchers, and policymakers to advance early detection and intervention initiatives, ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive the support they need as early as possible.
