Mission Statement
The Rose Kennedy Greenway is a premiere contemporary urban park that connects people and the city of Boston by providing beauty, fun, and a sense of community in the heart of downtown. The Conservancy is the designated steward of the Rose Kennedy Greenway.
Description
The Greenway is 1.5 mile long 15 acre contemporary park in the heart of Boston. The Greenway serves as the roof of the Central Artery tunnel that was the result of the Big Dig Project which has fundamentally transformed downtown Boston.
The Greenway Conservancy maintains and operates the Greenway through an agreement with the State of Masschusetts, which owns the Greenway and the tunnel beneath it.
We maintain the landscape organically, host hundreds of events and programs each year and welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors, residents and workers 365 days a year!
