Mission Statement

The Mission Statement of Eddy County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) is to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the court system, through the recruitment, training, and support of effective volunteer advocates.

Description

Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes. That's where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created by Seattle Judge David W. Soukup in 1977, and expanded to 49 states and the District of Columbia.

Court-appointed special advocate (CASA) volunteers make a life-changing difference for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Each volunteer is appointed by a judge to advocate for a child’s best interest in court. Our volunteers help judges develop a fuller picture of each child’s life. Their advocacy enables judges to make the most well-informed decision for each child.
