Mission Statement

The mission of the Neversink Valley Area Museum is to preserve, document and interpret the history of the peoples and industry of the Neversink and Shawangunk valleys of New York's Catskill region. The Museum focuses on the commerce and technologies of the area and their effect on the transformation of our society from an agrarian to an industrial one, predominantly in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Description

History museum that focuses on the D & H Canal, history of early film making and the Lenape Native Peoples. We have special programs for school groups, lectures, film screenings, concerts and other special events. We connect the events in our region with the world at large to be more than a roadside museum of "this happened here on this date".
