Mission Statement

The Expeditionary Path to Innovative Change (EPIC) Academy proposes a 9-12 Expeditionary Learning, public high school to open in the fall of 2009 in the South Chicago community. Epic is defined as an extraordinary journey or story that recounts the deeds of a legendary hero. We believe a key to student academic success is building confidence and purpose via opportunities for legendary community contributions. Therefore, we will provide a high quality education that infuses social activism into a rigorous college preparatory curriculum.

Epic Legends - Developing the Leaders of Tomorrow

  • College Readiness Curriculum - 4 years of literature, math, science, and social science courses based on state standards.
  • 21 st Century Skills - focus on critical skills employers are demanding such as working in teams, writing, reading, problem-solving, leadership, speaking, and creating innovative new ideas.
  • Service Learning - students will choose an area of study in which they are most interested, and every Wednesday extend the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom to innovative change service projects improving school, local, and global communities.

Description

The EPIC Academy is a 9-12 public high school in the South Chicago community. Our mission is preparing students with the 21st Century skills needed to revolutionize society while on the path to college and career success. We need a highly organized and motivated individual who enjoys working with children to provide critical front office support.
