Mission Statement

National Organization for the Advancement of Haitians - New York (NOAH NY ) aims to provide quality healthcare to underserved Haitians both within Haiti and abroad, and to assist in the planning and development of towns where we are invited to provide care.

Description

The National Organization for the Advancement of Haitians (NOAH) was founded in 1991 as a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization in response to the Haitian refugee crisis resulting from political instability in Haiti. With chapters in Washington DC, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, and New York, NOAH is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of democracy in Haiti.

Haiti has experienced a long history of oppressive and brutal leadership forcing many Haitians to live in squalor. Without access to basic human services such as clean water and medical care, Haitians die every day from treatable infections and diseases. Over the years, NOAH has dedicated time and resources to improving the quality of life of all Haitians.

In conjunction with our campaign to raise awareness about the plight of Haitians, NOAH NY is committed to providing underserved communities in Haiti with free medical care. Each year, NOAH NY organizes a week-long medical mission to a town or city in Haiti in order to provide everything from routine medical check-ups to life saving surgical procedures.

In June 2009, NOAH-NY a chapter of NOAH, partnered with the Haitian American Alliance (HAA), a New York based nonprofit dedicated to fostering the growth and development of Haitian-Americans, to provide free healthcare to thousands of men, women, and children in the town of Fort Liberte, Haiti. After a successful collaboration, NOAH-NY and HAA will continue to work hand in hand on future medical missions.
