Mission Statement

The University of California, Berkeley is a public university. Its fundamental missions are teaching, research, and public service. The UC Berkeley academic community makes key contributions to the economic and social well-being of the Bay Area, California, and the nation.

The Eastbay Collaborative for Under-served Children works in 12 East Bay schools, ranging from elementary to high school, private to public, and across Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

Description

The services of the Eastbay Collaborative for Under-served Children are designed to help students to compete for jobs in our technology-driven economy. They will take place before and after school and will provide academic instruction, tutoring, and homework help to improve literacy among the youth in these programs and to improve their technological skill set. Additionally, these digital media programs will engage these students, who usually do not have the opportunity to learn about other cultures and countries and in so doing broaden their experiences with and knowledge of global issues.
