UMaine Cooperative Extension's mission is to help Maine people improve their lives through an educational process that uses research-based knowledge focused on the issues and needs.For over 90 years, we've been putting University research to work in homes, businesses, farms, and communities--in every corner of Maine.

Description

University of Maine Cooperative Extension has two main areas of programmatic focus: youth and food systems. Extension helps support and grow the food-based economy across the entire state of Maine. It is the only entity in our state that touches every aspect of the Maine Food System , where policy, research, production, processing, commerce, nutrition, and food security and safety are integral and interrelated. University of Maine Cooperative Extension also conducts the state’s most successful out-of-school youth educational program through 4-H. 4-H is a positive youth development organization that empowers young people to reach their full potential.
