Mission Statement

The Kaminski Hosue Museum is operated as a historic house museum by the City of Georgetwon, South Carolina. Primary interpretive emphases are furniture, decorative arts, architecture, and social and family history as each of these pertains to the house and its collection. Lesser emphases include the history of Georgetown, Georgetown County, the South Carolina Low Country and maritime history. As the cultural arm of the City of Georgetown, the Kaminski House Museum provides other cultural and historical activities. These include cultural events, concerts, consultations on historical matters, etc. The mission of the Kaminski House is met through guided tours, educational programs, research, use of the collection, publications, promotional activities and other pertinent activities. The activities of the Kaminski Hosue Museum are carried out with the entire public, resident and tourist, in mind.

Description

The Kaminski House Museum is owned by the City of Georgetown in South Carolina. The House was built in 1769, and the last owner of the house, Julia Kaminski, left the house, the land and the contents to the City upon her death in 1972. The Kaminski House Museum is filled with fine antiques.
