Mission Statement

The Kaminski House Museum is operated as a historic house museum by the Friends of the Kaminski House. Primary interpretive emphases are family history, furniture, decorative arts, architecture, and social history as each of these pertains to the house and its collection. Lesser emphases include the history of Georgetown, Georgetown County, the South Carolina Lowcountry and maritime history. The Kaminski House Museum hosts many cultural events and concerts. The mission of the Kaminski House Museum is met through guided tours, educational programs, research, use of the collection, publications, promotional activities and other pertinent activities. The activities of the Kaminski House Museum are carried out with the entire public, resident and tourist, in mind.

Description

The Friends of the Kaminski House is a non-profit that maintains and operates the house. The land is owned by the City of Georgetown in South Carolina. The House was built in 1769, and the last owner of the house, Julia Kaminski, left the house, the land and the contents to the City upon her death in 1972. The Kaminski House Museum is filled with fine antiques.
