Mission Statement

The goals of the Foundation for Light Verse are to promote and promulgate light, metrical, and amusing verse through public readings and performances, workshops for children, and publication of the magazine LIGHT QUARTERLY.

Description

The magazine Light Quarterly was started in 1992 by founding editor John Mella, publishing light and humorous verse. There are currently no other print publications dedicated solely to this historical tradition. In 2008 the Foundation for Light Verse was created to support both the magazine, Light Quarterly, and the cause of light verse more broadly. We have a very small staff of three, with our senior editor nearing retirement. We work out of our homes and can offer volunteers a friendly, warm atmosphere, professionalism and respect.
