Mission Statement

Helping pets of the homeless, giving hope to the hopeless.

Description

How do you chose between a friend and a shelter? It's estimated 3.5 million people are homeless in the US, up to 24% own pets. Sadly only 2 shelters in the US allow pets. Many are forced to chose between a pet and a roof over their head. Many chose to stay on the streets w/ their pet for a longer period of time. Their pets provide warmth, comfort, love, friendship and many times are all the family they have left. Most people do not consider the circumstances that bring these folks to homelessness such as leaving an abusive spouse, loosing a job, the current economy, illnesses forcing bankruptcy and homelessness, run a way teens, low income housing shortages and natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina. We saw a growing need being un met in the QC area-temporary foster for pets of the homeless for those going into re hab or a shelter with goals of reuniting, pet rescue to those relinquished, free pet food, a low cost spaying/neutering program and low/no cost vet services. We also serve those who are terminall ill, entering nursing homes and domestic abusive situations. We are in desperate need of foster homes, adoptive homes, fundraising volunteers, school educators and adoption couselor volunteers who can sit at adoption days at local Petsmart and Petcos from 11-4 on a Sat or Sun. We could use your help if it is one hour a month or 100 hours a month-it will make a difference! Our vision helping pets of the homeless, giving hope to the hopeless. We rely 100% on donations and volunteers. Come be a part of a fantastic unique mission in your own backyard that will save a life, give a fresh start and hope to many and will positively inspire you and change you forever.
