Description

Communities In Schools (CIS) is a nonprofit organization working in partnership with the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools to improve student performance. CIS strives to link youth and families with community resources to ensure that children have a safe place to learn and grow, health care, caring relationships with adults and marketable skills upon graduation. CIS recruits social service agencies, hospitals, universities and colleges in addition to other organizations to place staff in the schools where children and families are more likely to use them.

This organization is one that really makes a difference in the lives of the kids and families that they help. I've volunteered with CIS for over 3 years now and I'm so glad that I found them! Their volunteer opportunities are truly fun and also very lively. There is rarely a dull moment at a CIS activity. I would highly recommend this organization to anyone with a passion for volunteering, working with kids, or someone just looking for a way to have a fun and meaningful time!
