Mission Statement

Crossroads empowers youth who are homeless, abandoned, abused, or at risk to lead healthy, productive lives.

Description

Crossroads’ purpose is to serve homeless, abandoned, and/or abused children, to reunite them with their families when that is a viable option, and to provide them with the skills and resources they need to transition into a healthy, productive adulthood. Our special expertise is in serving adolescents without families - a vulnerable and often overlooked population who have few other options in life and who will soon need to make it on their own. Crossroads’ individualized, strengths-based services strive to help youth develop the interpersonal and other skills necessary for success. What we teach them now, through our relationships, role modeling, and other interactions, will impact the rest of their lives and will influence how they interact with the larger society. The Agency’s programs focus on five primary populations - At-Risk Youth, Runaway and Homeless Youth, Teen Parents, Youth in Transition, and Families in Crisis - and offer the essential combination of promoting youth leadership and other developmental assets, providing educational and emotional mentoring or coaching, and supporting the development of life skills.
