Mission Statement

Green Mountain Animal Defenders (GMAD) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer-run organization with members and supporters throughout Vermont. Believing that all animals have intrinsic value and are worthy of protection, we use our statewide network to help animals of all species.

We encourage all people to increase their personal level of compassion by promoting humane choices and raising awareness of animal issues through education, advocacy, outreach, and collaboration.

GMAD also protects individual animals through direct services such as our foster care network, spay/neuter assistance program, and emergency transport team, as well as by providing expert advice and urging public policy reform on the local, state, and national levels.

Description

Green Mountain Animal Defenders is a volunteer-run animal protection organization. As a result, our volunteers are the life-blood of our organization. Volunteers can contribute in a variety of ways by working on projects as a leader, a supporter or by responding to a one-time call for assistance. The goal of GMAD's volunteer program is to connect volunteers to projects that interest them and meet their volunteer purposes, while serving animals and fulfilling GMAD's mission. Each volunteer may choose a lead or support role that includes some or all of the duties contained within each project according to their interests, skills and available time.
