Mission Statement
Our mission is to promote the conservation and preservation of natural, cultural, and historic resources and encourage prudent land use practices in the Kiski-Conemaugh River Basin by restoring and enhancing land and water based resources and promoting citizen environmental stewardship.
Description
The Conemaugh Valley Conservancy is a not-for-profit organization that was formed in 1994 to restore and enhance low-impact recreation opportunities in the Kiski-Conemaugh River Basin, which encompasses portions of Armstrong, Cambria, Indiana, Somerset and Westmoreland Counties. It recently completed the West Penn Trail and was a founding organization of teh Stonycreeek Quemahoning Initiative. Its Kiski-Conemaugh Stream Team program educates and engages citizen volunteers in restoring, enhancing and conserving the natural resources of the Kiski Basin through its water monitoring and environmental education programs.
