Mission Statement
ThinkImpact connects American students and young adults with developing countries to alleviate poverty through leadership and entrepreneurship.
Description
Think Impact is a unique social enterprise. Our philosophy is people-powered global development. We rely on the initiative of students to identify and support development opportunities through community-based sustainable solutions.
An Innovative Approach
Think Impact is the first organization to provide American college students and recent graduates a comprehensive program that includes training, exposure to poverty, assistance in the development of a project and financial support to return to the community to complete the project.
Our organization focuses on the next generation of leaders - offering students the ideas, leadership, and capital they need to leverage social innovation and local community resources to alleviate poverty. Think Impact has connected hundreds of American college students and recent graduates with rural villages in Africa to become social entrepreneurs.
Think Impact provides American college students and recent graduates a unique model: not just a chance to visit Africa once, but an opportunity to begin a long-term commitment through its internship and fellowship programs. With the help of Think Impact’s training program, students propose projects, fundraise to meet budget needs and, in partnership with a community, introduce their ideas for a sustainable business model to alleviate poverty. The Global Development Internship during summer vacations lays the groundwork for new projects while the fellowship program continues year round.
