Make-A-Wish Georgia’s mission is that together, we grant life-changing wishes for kids with critical illnesses. Wishes give hope, strength, and joy to wish kids and their families. Granting wishes takes a village. We rely on more than 300 Volunteers throughout Georgia, and we are in need of more people in Fort Oglethorpe and surrounding areas to help make a difference for kids in YOUR community. We are looking for positive and friendly people to join us in helping make wishes come true and entering into wish families' stories with care and compassion. Our Volunteer Wish Granters meet with wish kids and families (currently virtually) for a Wish Discovery Visit to get to know the child, help determine the child’s most heartfelt wish, and complete paperwork with the family. They encourage the child and family throughout the wish journey and collaborate with Make-A-Wish Georgia staff to organize a wish presentation or wish reveal party to celebrate the child’s wish being granted. Volunteer Wish Granters typically work in teams of two, and volunteer opportunities are on an as-needed basis in your area. This is a long-term and flexible volunteer opportunity, and we ask that Volunteer Wish Granters complete three Wish Discovery Visits minimum per year. An application, background check, and training are required for this role. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Alice Kaplan, Volunteer Coordinator, at akaplan@georgia.wish.org. We would love your help granting wishes; thank you!
