Mission Statement

Special Days Camps seeks to provide a safe and memorable camping experience for children with cancer and siblings of children with cancer. Our purpose is to offer campers hope and encouragement, as well as an opportunity to be with others who share similar life circumstances.

Description

Special Days Camps offers four camping opportunities for children with cancer and their siblings:

  • Special Days Camp is a week-long, activity filled, resident summer camp program for children, ages 6 to 17, who have or have had cancer.
  • Special Days Partners Camp is a week-long, activity filled, resident summer camp program for siblings (brothers and sisters) ages 6 to 17, of a child who has or has had cancer. Note: Siblings are eligible to attend whether or not the child with cancer attends.
  • Special Days Investigators is a day camp program designed to introduce young campers to camp life by offering safe, age-appropriate activities and programs. Activities focus on the theme of curiosity and the program is open to children living with cancer and their siblings. Participants may choose to come for one day, two days or all three days between 9 am and 4 pm.
  • Special Days Winter Camp is a fun- filled wintertime 'long weekend' (Friday-Sunday) at camp that is open to both Special Days and Partners campers.

Special Days Camps is an independent organization with an annual budget of approximately $230,000.00 per year. This covers the costs of renting the facility for summer and winter camp, as well as printing, postage and other administrative expenses.

To try and offset costs, we engage in fund-raising events throughout the year. Many businesses, organizations, churches and service groups conduct fund-raisers to help support us.

Families contribute a nominal registration fee to attend camp; however, no child is turned away because of inability to pay the fee. We are also funded by gifts and donations.
