The mission of the State of Florida Guardian ad Litem Program is to advocate for the best interests of children who are alleged to be abused, neglected, or abandoned and who are involved in court procedings. Best intrests include preservation of the child's physical safety and emotional well-being; permanent placement in a stable and nurturing home environment that fosters the child's healthy growth and developement; and protection from further harm during the child's involvement in the court system.
Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes. That's where Guardian ad Litem steps in. The State of Florida Guardian ad Litem Program was created to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As a cerified Guardian ad Litem your goal is to help every child acheive a safe, permanent home as soon as possible. It is the Guardian ad Litem vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
