Mission Statement

Our Mission is to positively impact the lives of young people in the Oakland metropolitan area by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

Description

The First Tee of Oakland is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization originally formed in 2004 to provide developmental and educational opportunities for disadvantaged youth. In 2008, the Board determined that its mission could best be achieved by affiliating with the national organization, The First Tee, and operating as "The First Tee of Oakland." Over 700 of Oakland’s children have participated in TFTO, most of whom are low-income students facing many challenges at home and at school. TFTO helps children learn critical life skills, such as concentration, responsibility, interpersonal skills, and positive attitude. The benefits of these skills carry over into all facets of life.

Locations: Metropolitan Golf Links, 10051 Doolittle Road, Lake Chabot Golf Course, 11450 Golf Links Road, and Montclair Golf Course, 2477 Monterey Blvd. (Affiliate Course)
