Mission Statement

The mission of the Capitol Visitor Center is to provide a welcoming, educational, safe, and comfortable environment where visitors can learn about Congress, the legislative process, and the U.S. Capitol Building. The Visitor Center is designed to provide the visitor with physical, intellectual, and emotional experience. It is the goal of the Visitor Center to bring together the visitor’s tangible and intangible interactions into one complete experience that will inform, involve, and inspire. The experience of visiting the Capitol and learning about Congress will begin long before a visitor sets foot in the Visitor Center, through outreach to schools across the country, website materials, and public events.

Description

The Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) welcomes around 2 million visitors every year. The CVC has tours of the Capitol, Specialty Tours, Educational Programs, and Cart Programs. There are 2 Gift Shops and a 550 seat Restaurant. Volunteers will assist visitors with way-finding, assisting in getting visitors on their tours, public programs, administrative functions, and special events.
