HOPE (Helping Our Peers Excel), Inc.

The mission of HOPE, Inc. is to recognize, educate and inspire children to grow personally, professionally, emotionally and spiritually by utilizing community service and volunteerism as tools to encourage them to make a difference in the world.

Description

HOPE, Inc. created a community service project called WI P2D2, which stands for Wisconsin Prescription Pill and Drug Disposal. WI P2D2 was organized to help communities collect unwanted and expired over the counter drugs and prescription medicines so that they are not disposed of down the drains or toilets. These disposal methods are creating environmental havoc with our waterways and wildlife. However, after further research, WI P2D2 is also helping to combat the latest drug epidemic: Teen Prescription Drug Abuse.

It seems that teens are going into their parents, grandparents and friends' medicine cabinets and taking prescription medicines and abusing them. WI P2D2 is educating the public about this drug abuse problem and informing people to properly secure their medicines that are kept at home.
