Mission Statement

The mission of the Arlington Public Schools Partners In Education (PIE) and School Volunteer programs is to provide an avenue for schools and businesses and members of the community to work together to ensure student success in school, in the community and in the workplace. Likewise, we want to offer satisfying volunteer experiences for volunteers from businesses, government agencies and civic groups, as well as individuals from the community.

Description

We are a public school system located in a small urban county close to Washington, D.C.. About 18,000 students attend our schools in addition to a sizeable number of adults who take evening classes. The Partners In Education (PIE) and School Volunteer programs are located in the School and Community Relations Department. We have over 30 schools, which serve a very diverse population. Students come to our schools from many different countries and speak many different languages. Our goal is to close the achievement gap between minority students and white students.
