Mission Statement

The Sarah Center is an outreach ministry of St. Francis Seraph where underserved women come together to make jewelry, build relationships and reach their potential. Through social, artistic and cultural activities, they experience inner healing and the growth in the confidence needed to build a positive life for themselves, their families and their communities. In addition, they have opportunities to enrich their lives economically through our supplemental income program making and selling jewelry, quilts and greeting cards.

Description

In 2009, 84 women received supplemental income through our program, earning an average of $113 each. A majority of the 12,000 Over-the-Rhine residents are poor and under-educated. Ninety-five percent reside in 3,500 households below the official poverty level. This additional income allows some women to be able to buy food, medicines and other necessities that they may not have been able to otherwise.
