Mission Statement
At the People's Harm Reduction Alliance, we work to reduce the spread of disease and help our participants stay alive and as healthy as possible. Our needle exchange program reduces the spread of infectious disease, reduces health care costs for the State of Washington, and helps preserve the dignity of intravenous drug users.
We do not promote drug use. We promote social justice by reminding our participants and the wider community that every single human life is of infinite worth and every death is a tragedy.
PHRA is a community-based, grassroots organization. We believe that harm reduction services are most effective when they are offered with respect and compassion in a democratic context that treats all community members as equals and peers. Active and former drug users are included in all levels of our organization, from the board of directors to volunteers.
