Agape is a non-profit organization whose mission is to make significant and lasting contributions toward improving the quality of life for the residents of Aurora and surrounding communities. We truly believe that the development of our children is imperative in achieving this mission. Last year Agape awarded over $2,500 in scholarships to deserving students from the community. Proceeds this year will benefit scholarship recipients who will be judged as winners of the oratory and visual art contests. Also benefiting from the proceeds will be students who attend the 2010 summer session sponsored by the Sankofa School for History, Culture, and Creativity.
Agape Connection, Incorporated is pleased to announce the 2010 Dreamers Wax Museum of African American History. The Museum will take place following the annual Agape Martin Luther King Brunch on Sunday afternoon, January 17, 2010, at the Hyatt Hotel, Lisle, IL.
The Wax Museum continues to be an educational venue for our children to develop a knowledge of and appreciation for the achievements of persons of African descent. The children gain tremendous knowledge about the icons they portray and have an opportunity to practice research, public speaking, acting and much more in one event. We are excited to have the children broaden their knowledge even further as they research and portray international icons in accordance with this year's Brunch theme, "The Global Impact of Dr. Martin Luther King's Dream."
