Mission Statement

Building a safer and healtier community by preventing alocholism and drug abuse.

Description

Teen Court is a diversion program under The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. Teens between the ages of 12-18 years are sent to us from probation, schools, and sometimes parents. The teenagers are first time low level offenders who have committed a crime, such as; driving without a license, truancy, fighting, petty theft, trespassing, and possession of alcohol or drugs. Each teen goes to "court" and a jury of their peers decides a set of consequences for the offense committed. Such consequences include but are not limited to; letters of apologies, essays, classes, alcohol and drug groups, jury duty, and community service.
